I'm back! For Realzies!

Okay, so it is time I am serious about posting my progress.

This year I have lost a lot, but gained it right back as soon as I stopped moving. I got into bad habits with eating and sleeping and now I regret not keeping up with the workouts and healthy eating habits, even though I was burnt out, it was not worth gaining it back. It comes on faster than it goes, now the hard work starts over again. Someday I will learn, I hope...

I am, however, proud to list my accomplishments:

  • 3 5ks so far
  • 1 10 k
  • 1 15 k
  • 2 half marathons so far

On Sept. 11th I will be running in my first relay race. I am very excited but I have 3 legs to run in 24 hours:

  • Leg 1= 6.5
  • Leg 2= 6.3
  • Leg 3= 3.9

I also plan on running at least 2 more half marathons this year.

My new adventure in weight loss starts on Monday, May 24th. I joined a local Boot Camp for 3 months, so by Aug. 23rd I Will be looking good. I will be working out 5 days a week at 5:30 am. Yeah, crazy I know!

I really want to push myself and I am so glad I have a very supportive husband. I also added climbing to my list of things I do and I want to get stronger and smaller so I can climb like a pro.

On Sunday I will be posting a before picture of me and I will try to post an update picture every 2 weeks to show my progress. I hope my Journey in weight loss can inspire you to get out there and take control of your life. It feels real great to be in control. Please, don't be shy, ask questions, post your comments, I would love the support! Sometimes a good sports bra isn't quite enough ;)

Some Goals I set today and told my girls to have them remind me of my goals.

As of tomorrow until September:

  • No more sweets
  • No more soda
  • No more unhealthy snacks
Why only 4 months? Baby steps, baby steps....

  1. I love that you're setting goals; I'm realistic... I LOVE sweets! Since nursing, his stomach can't handle all the sweets I love, so I allow one day a week that I can have a little something. I don't crave it as much anymore, but I still get to indulge myself a little. If you ever need a workout buddy I'd love to do it with you... I need to get back in the game!

  2. Thanks Aubrey! I would love to workout with you!

This week is actually friend week so the first day is free for the class, I think you have to pay 10 to the Daybreak community center to get a card though.

It is so crazy but fun! I am glad I signed up.

Happy 1 year Anniversary...to me!

Today is a really big anniversary for me! I met up with my Doctor one year ago today to go over all my test results and to do an ultrasound. I was given the news that I was insulin resistant and that I have what is called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) . A year ago today is the day I got my life back. I'll take you back in time a little to give you some background on my story so that you understand a little more of why I do what I do everyday to get my life back. This is a really long post so hopefully I don't bore everyone to death! My husband and I really wanted to start a family when we got married 14 years ago. Little did we know our journey to have kids would be a rocky road. In 7 years I was pregnant 6 times and out of those 6 pregnancies we have 2 beautiful daughters who I am very thankful that I have in my life. In 2007 when my youngest miracle was 18 months old I decided it was time to get "Jena" back. Pregnancy really took a toll on my body and I fo...

Taking a break from the scale!

I want to lose these last 25 pounds so much, especially the next 5 because I will finally hit my 100 goal but I have a mental block going on and so I have decided to step away from the scale for awhile. The scale isn't what this is about anyways. Yes, I have a healthy weight goal that I have set so the scale keeps me on track, but it is all about how I feel. I feel good and I look fabulous and I get compliments everyday and that is what matters most. So I have to tell myself that I have lost  95 POUNDS and the next 25 pounds will come off when my body is ready to let go. I just have to keep working hard, be patient and love life! 95 FLIPPING POUNDS!  That is an entire person! I am so happy about this! I will let you all know when I jump back on that scale, and I expect it will be followed by my "I LOST 100 POUNDS PARTY" ! Keep working hard everyone, you are worth it! Thanks for reading, Jena

Purple Day 5k for Epilepsy

On Saturday March 24th I had the opportunity to run in the first Annual Purple Day 5k for Epilepsy. This will go down as one of the most heart warming, memorable races I have ever done. This race was created by some of my most dearest friends, The Green Family: Greg, Angela, Gabe, Marisa, and the inspiration for it all, Natalie. Natalie is 11 years old and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy when she was 8 months old.   I decided that I wanted to race and support this great cause and my friends to help find a cure for Epilepsy. Purple is the color to support Epilepsy so of course, if you know me, you go big or you go home and so I went big and bought me a purple morph suit that covered my entire body, head to toe in purple awesomeness! You should have seen Natalie's face when I showed up decked out in my purple-tastic outfit, priceless!   There were 160 runners/walkers at this race and an amazing group called  Push to the Finish  that pus...
