Happy 1 year Anniversary...to me!

Today is a really big anniversary for me! I met up with my Doctor one year ago today to go over all my test results and to do an ultrasound. I was given the news that I was insulin resistant and that I have what is called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) . A year ago today is the day I got my life back. I'll take you back in time a little to give you some background on my story so that you understand a little more of why I do what I do everyday to get my life back. This is a really long post so hopefully I don't bore everyone to death! My husband and I really wanted to start a family when we got married 14 years ago. Little did we know our journey to have kids would be a rocky road. In 7 years I was pregnant 6 times and out of those 6 pregnancies we have 2 beautiful daughters who I am very thankful that I have in my life. In 2007 when my youngest miracle was 18 months old I decided it was time to get "Jena" back. Pregnancy really took a toll on my body and I fo

Before and After's

This "before" was taken in 2007 when I originally started my weight-loss journey. Nahvi was almost 18 months old and Moab was about to go into Kindergarten. Little did I know I would have an unknown force fighting against my efforts for the next 4 years. This "after" picture was taken December of 2011, ten months after getting diagnosed with insulin resistance and polycystic ovarian syndrome.  This "before" picture was taken in March of 2011, right after being diagnosed with insulin resistance and poly cystic ovarian syndrome. It took me 4 years of nearly killing myself with workouts, half marathons, relay races, 5ks, 10ks, 15ks, working with personal trainers and doing bootcamp 5 days a week at 5:30am that I finally reached my breaking point and went to the doctor to get answers. I feel very fortunate that the Doctor listened to my story, took me serious and took action with thorough testing. As you can see in this "after" picture

Treadmill Interval Workout

I found this workout online somewhere. I gave it to one of my friends that I am working with to help her reach her goals. I got word today that it was hard but she did it and felt great! Way to go! I challenge anyone else who wants a good treadmill workout to take this one and do your best! I am back!

Well... I have not really gone anywhere, I have just been very focused on reaching my weight-loss goals. I am happy to say that I have now lost a total of 87 pounds which means only 13 more to go until I reach 100 pounds lost! I am not weighing in this month so I look forward to weighing in on March 1st. I really hope I hit 100 pounds or very close! A lot has happened since July of last year when I posted. I can't believe it has been that long but it has and I am ready to dive back into blogging my journey. I have a lot to post about, that is for sure, so please stay tuned! --Jena

Challenge I posted on Facebook

For the Month of February I would like to propose a challenge to all my friends! Valentines day is approaching and we all love to get cards, notes, and gift from loved ones but I think it is about time we give ourselves a gift. So for February I have listed 10 things that help me take care of myself and I hope they can help you too! 1- For the month of February you are going to promise to focus on taking care of yourself so that you can take better care of those around you that NEED you. This is so much easier to do when you take care of yourself. 2-As of right now, love yourself for who you are, no matter what shape or size, flaws or imperfections! It is really hard to be happy if you don't love who you are. It is also hard to be a better person if you are so hard on yourself that you can't make improvements in a healthy way! Also, there are plenty of great things that make you YOU so embrace them and build on your positive attributes to make your weaker ones stronger!
